i. Introduction

The Student Web Awards is the first and only nationwide Web design contest for high school students. More than a simple competition; it is a way for students and teachers alike to foster passion for the communications technology of this new generation.

Preserving the stylistic and graphical identity of The Awards is important to help develop a sense of community among participants and sponsors, as well as aiding in brand recognition. The Staff of The Student Web Awards asks all parties to respect our Identity Guidelines for presentation of information about our competition.

iii. Print and Text

"The 2005 Student Web Awards" is the only proper way to write the name of the program. Note that the "T" in "The" must be capitalized. The only acceptable abbreviations for the program are "The Awards" and "The 2005 Awards". These abbreviations may only be used after the entire title has first been used.

This year, our Featured Presenter is Register.com. On any official material relating to The Student Web Awards for this year must refer to The Awards as, "The 2005 Student Web Awards presented by Register.com". Material specific to The 2004 Awards must include the Register.com logo.

Print media may require the use of our font families in representing The Awards. The official fonts of The Student Web awards are as follows:

  • Myriad Condensed Bold
  • Myriad Condensed Semibold
  • Both are available at adobe.com.

    iv. Logo Use

The spirit of The Awards is exemplified by the strong black triangle logo. It is important to protect the logo as an asset and only use it in properly defined ways. By keeping the presentation of The Student Web Awards logo consistent, the public, sponsors and participants are better able to view the logo as our distinctive mark.

  • The Student Web Awards should always appear with lower case letters in a graphical setting. The "web awards" portion of the graphic should always be bold. The text must always remain black.
  • There should be generous tracking to allow space between the letters, and this must not be altered.
  • The black triangle is the graphical signifier of the logo and must always remain in the image.
  • The black triangle must always be black and equilateral. Color changes and length manipulations are unacceptable.
  • The black triangle must never be used on its own without the textual signifiers.
  • The Awards logo(s) may not be taken apart or distorted and the aspect ratio must remain the same.
  • These logos may not be used in such a way that they provide a negative association with the program.
  • These logos may not be used in such a way that they imply support of a program for the staff has not explicitly given consent and approval.
  • The Awards logo(s) must be used on every official publication of The Student Web Awards.

  • v. Guidelines for Advertising

Any advertising paid for by The Student Web Awards must prominently feature one of our logos in original form. The Student Web Awards staff must review any major educational or promotional campaigns using the logo(s) before print or production. This allows us to provide consistency in our representation. If you are planning on using the logo in this way, contact Nico Juber at nico [at] studentwebawards.com.

    vi. Logo Availability
