New name, timeline unveiled for 2004

May 3, 2004

-- FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE --

The Réalise Design Student Web Awards has announced a new identity and timeline for the program's 2004 competition.

The name for the contest has been shortened to "The Student Web Awards," in part to better reflect the program's position as the first and only Web design contest for high school students. The program's well-known black triangle logo has also been updated to feature the new concise name.

"We are the only nationwide student Web awards," explained Executive Director Alexander Yesnik. "Our new name reinforces this important position and the corresponding responsibility we have to young Web designers across the country."

Réalise Design, the visual communications company that founded the Awards, will continue to provide staffing and administrative support for the program.

Starting in 2004, the Awards will no longer offer a separate category for middle school students. Instead, all marketing and outreach efforts will be focused on encouraging Web designers in high school.

Another major change to the program is that the timeline will be moving from the spring to the fall of each year. The exact dates have yet to be announced, but the 2004 call for entries is predicted to be held throughout the month of October. Students will once again have the chance to win two new Treo 90 organizers from Handspring.
