National student Web design competition announces 2005 call for entries

September 15, 2005

-- FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE --

The Student Web Awards -- the nation's only Web design competition exclusively for high school students -- has just announced that it will begin accepting submissions for this year's contest on October 1.

High school students interested in Web design can submit their work, new or old, through the program's official Web site at www.studentwebawards.org. Thanks to support from corporate sponsors, there is no entry fee for the 2005 competition.

Now in its fourth year of operation, The Student Web Awards continues to provide high school students with a chance to receive national recognition for their technical aptitude and creative skills. Entries are judged in nine separate areas, including typography, navigation, creativity, and compatibility.

"We are showcasing the best work by the generation with the most potential to expand the future of digital communication," said Executive Director, Alexander Yesnik. "I hope we can incite within students some creative thinking about design."

Top winners this year will receive prizes aimed at encouraging their future careers in design, including the brand new Macromedia Studio 8 software package and a Web hosting plan from Lycos.
